| Starting elevation: 950' Rattlesnake Mountain elevation: 3517' Winery trailhead elevation 900' From the parking lot locate the path to the Rattlesnake Ledge trailhead just to the south. There are porta johns just before you start the actual trail. Just before you get to the Ledge you'll see a sign and trail on your left. Take this trail and continue up. There are several view points along the way, and once you get to the summit of Rattlesnake mountain at approximately the 4.5 mile mark there is a bench and view. The trail switches back and forth from the north side of the ridge to the south side of the ridge, and there are occasional terrific views of Mt. Rainier to the South and Mt. Si and others to the north. The next six miles are pretty much down hill. There are several road crossings, but it is always easy to find the trail on the other side due to the bike/horse walk-through barriers. Most of this trail is well maintained. There is a section just west of Rattlesnake Mountain that has some 'car washes' going on, but it's not bad. |
